SRI GOVINDA THEERTHA SWAMI AND HIS PANCHAVATI

Panchavati is a home place of free Services & Spirituality. Let us look at the Great Nandi Hills of Southern India of Asian Continent. This place of Panchavati is very near to this Nandi Hills which has become a key spot today due to the presence of SRI GOVINDA THEERTHA SWAMI. Panchavati is just about 1 Km away from Muddenahalli which is the Birth Place of the Great World Wide Person Sir M Vishveshwariah.

One can reach this place through the following directions given below:–

  1. Bangalore – Chickaballapur – Panchavati.

  2. Bangalore – Nandi Cross – Panchavati.

  3. Mangalore – Doddaballapur – Nandi Road – Panchavati.

  4. Hyderabad – Chickaballapur – Panchavati.

  6. Chennai – Bangalore – Chickaballapur – Panchavati.

  7. Delhi – Bangalore – Chickaballapur – Panchavati.

  8. Kolkata – Bangalore – Chickaballapur – Panchavati.

There are Three main places called Panchavati in India & they are:-

1) In Bengal - Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Panchavati.

2) In Delhi - The Residence of the President of India.

3) In Nasik - The Forest where Lord Shri Ram Chandra stayed during his exile.

But this place of Panchavati, where Swami resides is also unusually special and how the name was derived is explained below.

Panchavati means Pancha + Vati.

Pancha means number 5 in Sanskrit.

Vati means Group of Trees in Sanskrit.

Hence Panchavati means a group of 5 sacred trees that are:-

  1. Banyan Tree.

  2. Peepal Tree.

  3. Bilva Tree.

  4. Amalaka Tree.

  5. Ashoka Tree.

These 5 Trees are to be planted in a circular way having a radius of about 9 feet or 21 feet or 45 feet which are the very sacred number in Hinduism.

According to the Brahmapurana they have to be planted in a particular order as follows:–

  1. Banyan Tree in the East.

  2. Peepal Tree in the West.

  3. Amalaka Tree in the South.

  4. Bilwa Tree in the North.

  5. Ashoka Tree in the South – East.

The dais of Meditation happens in the centre of these Trees. One has to meditate sitting on this place under the shadow of these 5 Trees as the sacred atmosphere created by these 5 Trees is the paramount importance for Meditation.

This Panchavati is being nurtured with the presence and blessings of Swami who is an intuitive meditator and also a well qualified, having His PhD degree in Mathematics from IIT Bombay. During His Research, Swami worked as an Applied Mathematics in the field of Plasma Physics. Swami was a visitor to Baba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Bombay, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) Bombay and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Swami says “His Meditation made His Education easy”. After His Education and PhD, Swami rendered free Teaching Services for 20 years in Sri Sathya Sai Loka Seva Institution, Muddenahalli and during this period Swami performed Meditation in the Mornings, Evenings & Nights in the nearby place of Panchavati on the hill called Dhyanagiri Hill.

The great experience of Swami’s life is that, He did Meditation continuously for 12 days and nights from 24-04-1989 to 06-05-1989 in a cave of Dhyanagiri Hill. At that time Swami did total fasting for first four days & had a small meal of organic food & the Rest of the day Swami continued to Meditate. Many times Swami had gone into Trance from Morning to Evening under the rain & sunshine continuously for about 12 hours. Swami survives only on organic and raw vegetarian food for the past 21 years along with Meditation and places of His Meditation are beneath the shadow of the Rocks, the Bushes etc in the midst of the Ant Hills. Swami climbs down from the hill daily at about 3:00 P.M and gives Divine Discourses on Spiritual Scripts like Vedas, Upanishad, Brahma Sutras, Bible, Quran, Zend-Avesta, and Tripetika. Swami suggests the remedies to the people assembled there in hundreds. Later He sits for about ½ an hour in the Bhajan Programme with essence of all the religion. Swami has been medically declared that a person cannot merely exist according to our Medical Laws unless there is divine power.
